Days 9-12 of training : VVT, SQL test over. Java started.
Index: Other posts on training in this series
Have been a bit busy.
In this span of time, our VV&T test passed by. An objective type section with rather confusing choices and ‘Give test cases’ section for which most didn’t have enough time left people less than enthusiastic about the next subject, SQL.
SQL was covered VERY fast. It wasn’t very tough though. But lots of practice recommended. The very helpful instructor seemed to have knowledge of a lot more on Oracle than what we had for our training. Finally, after two days of teaching and a day for practice and Sat+Sun, we finally had the SQL test today (Monday) morning. Most believe they did pretty well. The test was easy.
And then Java started after the test. That’s a subject I happen to like and am fairly good at already. The faculty for the subject seems to be awesome so far. Very knowledgeable and gave a detailed description of the objectives of the course on Java. Only Edit Plus will be allowed. Java Docs will be available. JDK 1.4.2 will be used. No ‘logic’ based stuff in test. No graphics programs in test. Most likely a Database based application using JDBC and AWT or a multithreaded client-server based application. Detailed point wise marking scheme for the test will be given so one doesn’t spend time on arbitrary features and options. Great. Way to go!
We also got our Bank Account Starter kit today. Account should be activated in a couple of days. And most also received their photo id flash cards today so we don’t have to wear the lowly “Temporary” flash card.
Looking forward to achieving mastery and gaining fluency in Java in the next few days.
